Bryan and Jenny Riley are the 2007 Squib East Coast Champions!
11 squibs from 8 clubs far and wide across the UK and Ireland made their way to join 7 local boats at the RYYC at Bridlington for what would hopefully be a fantastic weekend’s sailing. A westerly force 3 provided excellent racing on the first day, with courses set in the middle of the bay by the RYYC’s principal race officer – David Armstrong. Some excellent close racing saw a number of different leaders throughout the 3 races on the first day, but ultimately it was Brimstone (73) who won the first 2 races and aLCHEMY (65) who won the 3rd. Unfortunately the weather did not hold out for the following 2 days and strong wind conditions – gusting up to 30 knots – meant that racing had to be cancelled. Based on the results obtained from Saturday’s racing, Brimstone helmed by Brian Riley and crewed by Jenny Riley from WOBYC took overall 1st place with 2 first places and a third. aLCHEMY, helmed by Nigel Harris and crewed by John Stephenson from SCYC, took 2nd overall with 2 third places and 1 first. In 3rd overall was Easy (83) helmed by Dave White and crewed by Pete Ballam. Race 1 1st Brimstone – Brian & Jenny Riley – WOBYC 2nd Alchemy – Nigel Harris & John Stephenson – SCYC 3rd Easy – Dave White & Pete Ballam – FFSC 4th Ghost – Gerard Dyson & Adam Saltonstall – RYYC 5th Perkers – Tony Saltonstall & Andy Smith – RYYC |
