Bryan and Jenny Riley finish second at the 2011 Squib East Coast Championships using Lonton and Gray Sails.

The 2011 Squib East Coast Championships was hosted by Medway Yacht Club over the weekend of 4th and 5th June and saw 17 Squibs arriving to compete.

The weather forecast for the weekend was for wind (NE) and rain later. And, as predicted the wind arrived - Saturday averaging 20 knots, gusting to 25 and Sunday 6 - 18 knots with rain late morning.

The windward leeward courses were set up in “PinUp Reach” a broad stretch of water between Hoo Island and Nor Marsh. The start of the first race was approached with uncertainty by the majority of helms and crews - boats being spread above, below and some distance from the line. Race 1, 2 & 3 saw Brimstone gaining results of 3rd, 2nd and 2nd respectively.  Race 4 was then won by Brimstone - Bryan & Jenny Riley.

Sunday morning saw the boats set out in a 6 knot north-easterly breeze which then increased to a steady 18 knots by mid morning. No uncertainty or hesitation from the helms & crews on the start line on that day.  Race 5 was won by Brimstone - Bryan & Jenny Riley.

The event was supported generously by a number of Marine suppliers: Batt Sails, Harken, Holt, Hyde Sails, Lonton & Gray Sails, Super Spar and Z Spar, Whites - enabling all competitors to receive a prize to reward their efforts.

Final result
1st Alchemy – 800 Gerard Dyson & Tony Saltonstall, Royal Yorkshire YC.
2nd Brimstone – 73 Bryan & Jenny Riley, Waveney & Oulton Broad YC.
3rd Lady Penelope – 819 Malcolm Hutchings & Andy Ramsey, Royal Corinthian YC
